As you can see, the Assassin IV peaked at just 73c, one of the coolest we’ve ever had. However, the 4S in normal and silent mode was 87c and 91c respectively. That’s quite a big difference, but this is a single-fan cooler, while the IV was a dual-fan cooler, and just larger overall. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting that big a difference, but overall, 87c in normal mode is impressive and beats the be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 5.
Using our fixed clocks and lower voltages, the performance gap between the Assassin IV and the 4S pretty much vanished, which is very interesting to see, with the 4S just beating out the Noctua NH-D15S too.
The 4S is unsurprisingly quieter than the IV, given is has one fewer fan, that’s to be expected, but overall, in silent mode the cooler even beat out the Noctua NH-D15S by a small margin, and we all know the D15S is pretty damn quiet to begin with.
However, in our optimised mode, not only did the 4S closely match the cooling performance of the IV, it’s exceptionally quieter, and the second quietest air cooler we’ve ever tested (in silent mode); truly impressive results here.
