Efficiency, PFC and Voltage Regulation
Voltage Regulation
The Gamer Storm DQ850-M provides some excellent voltage regulation results. As can be seen in the chart below, the deviancy in the ranges is exceptionally low. You will also note that over the different power outputs, the results provided in our testing are remarkably consistent with very little variance.
The only mildly erratic numbers comes from the -12V rail. Given its lack of importance though, these results are more than solid.
Power Efficiency
As the DQ850-M is gold-rated, it does, of course, have certain efficiency ratings to achieve in terms of the power. In this regard, this power supply nails it. It easily meets the gold-rating with a little extra to spare and it is particularly good to see the ratings above 90% at both 20% and 100% where they are allowed to be as low as 88%.
The results we took are almost entirely consistent with those DeepCool provided on the packaging, albeit ours are slightly better. You can’t argue with that!
Power Factor Correction
The PFC ratings for this power supply are, on the whole, exactly what we would want to see. It is a little unusual to see them dip at 40% as they usually tend to start low and get higher as the load increases. Despite that though, the rating is close enough when compared to the others to not find any issue here.
