Deepcool GamerStorm Captain 240 EX Review

A Closer Look

There are two TF 120 double-blade fans in the box, each coming with a black and red design, black braided PWM cables and durable anti-vibrations rubber mounts.

The fan blades are really cool, with a hybrid two-blade per blade design, and ridges to help push the airflow through the radiator, as well as rifled edges to the fan housing to  help improve the airflow further and hopefully cut down some of the air turbulence and noise.

Also included in the box, you’ll find this handy fan hub, allowing you to power the fans and pump of the EX with ease, while also acting as a handy cable-extension to help with routing cables.

This is an AIO unit, so all the main components come pre-assembled, meaning it’s ready to plug in and use.

The first thing that stands out is that fantastic pump design, which features exposed clear tubing running from the top of the pump and back into the side, allowing to you actually see the coolant flow through the CPU block. It’s a really cool way to add some visual flair to your system build and one of the most unique looking AIO pumps on the market.

On the side, two pre-installed screw mounts, allowing quick and easy installations to the motherboard mounting blocks.

Pre-installed thermal paste is great, as it allows you to quickly and easily install the cooler. The down side is that you’ll need to buy more if you have to do a re-mount.

With it cleaned off, we can see there’s a nice and large copper contact surface, which should easily cover any of the support CPUs.

The pump has two thick tubes coming from one side, which are mounted on pivots to allow you to easily change the orientation of the block and the radiator to suit your install and chassis requirements.

Both hoses are nice and thick, but also quite flexible. They’re kept safe with a thick glossy braiding too, which gives them a quality look and feel.

The radiator is pretty standard stuff, with a 240mm form factor and tightly packed fins to help it dissipate a good amount of heat from your system. Now let’s get it installed and put it through its paces!
