Final Thoughts

Price

At the time of writing, I couldn’t find reliable stock information in the UK, which can be for a huge number of reasons. I suspect this will improve, but for now we can only find a few off the beaten path eBay stores with stock for around £65. It’s best to check with your retailer of choice, but if you can find it for less than £70, we think you’re on the right track.

Overview

The original Deepcool 240 AIO was a pretty awesome cooler, offering decent performance and acoustics, although nothing particularly special on either. The latest effort, the 240X, tweaks and improves both the cooling performance and the acoustics to kick things up a few gears, and it has certainly worked. The new EX model runs a little bit cooler and a little bit quieter, and that’s pretty much everything you could hope for in an upgrade to an older model.

The design of the EX is stunning, with that reactor inspired pump housing, with the exposed water cooling tubing that allows you to see the liquid flow through the pump; it’s easily one of the best-looking pumps on the AIO market. The radiator is pretty standard, but it does look neat and tidy and feels durable. I would like to see the screws for the fans improved though, as they were far from easy to screw into place. The new fans are by far the biggest upgrade here, giving more airflow, lower noise and adding very nicely to the aesthetics. A lot of AIOs in this price range have pretty boring looking fans, so it’s nice to see something a little more aggressive in terms of design. Overall, a modest but very welcome upgrade to the Deepcool range.

Pros

  • Durable build quality
  • Unique pump design
  • Easy to install (pump)
  • Good quality fans
  • Competitive performance
  • Good price (if you can find it close to the MSRP)

Cons

  • Fan screw holes felt too small
  • Limited availability (at time of writing)

“The Deepcool 240 EX is a great looking cooler that is sure to work well as part of a gaming build. If you can find it at the right price, the EX is sure to make a welcome addition to your system.”
