The Macube 550 is a rather simple looking beast really. It’s got straight edges, it’s pretty much all black, and doesn’t really give much away. It’s almost menacing in its blacked-out and robust style. There’s some subtlety, but it’s also subtle in its self. The left side panel has heavily tinted tempered glass, but also a gorgeous floating aluminium handle with some rounded edges.
There’s a cool bit GamerStorm branding on the panel too. What’s really neat is that the side panel doesn’t even use screws. You just pull the handle, then lift the glass out with it. It’s all friction and magnets and pretty damn cool really.
The top panel is closed up and finished in that fantastic looking black textured design that matches up with the front panel.
The I/O panel is kept simple too, with all the usual power buttons and audio jacks. There are two USB 3.0 ports, finished in dark green, which is the official Gamer Storm colour scheme, so that’s pretty neat.
But where do all my fans and radiators go I hear you cry? Well, there’s a funky looking mount on the right-side panel. For all its minimalist looks, this is the complete opposite. It’s like a design right out of Deus Ex.
As you can see, the airflow from an off angle, which can work wonders for reducing fan noise from within the case.
There’s a little passive heat exhaust just at the top rear too, which can stop heat build-up in the top of the case.
As you would expect from an ATX case, it provides eight expansion slots, but also two vertical ones should you have a riser cable (sold separately).
Plus, the PSU mount at the bottom, so again, pretty straight forward stuff here.
Finally, we have the base of the case. There are two large slide-out dust filters here. Of course, these allow for quick and easy maintenance, and there’s good ground clearance for them too.
