Leading Chinese thermal product manufacturer DeepCool has unveiled a new lineup of CPU coolers that look rather familiar. The RGB cooler range is almost identical to the Captain EX range. However, while they may look the same, the most noteworthy addition that seems to be the go-to trend at the moment is that they include RGB lighting.
DeepCool has announced two new coolers in the Captain EX RGB range: the Captain 120EX RGB and the Captain 240EX RGB. The pair feature 120mm and 240mm radiators, respectively. Both coolers are compatible with AMD and Intel processors, including socket AM4, LGA1151, and LGA2011-v3. The 120EX and 240EX are both rated for a TDP of up to 150W.
The Captain EX RGB coolers feature variable RGB lighting via LEDs integrated within the water block, plus an additional LED lighting strip. The lighting system can be customised through an included wired controller with 3 buttons. This consequently allows you to change the mode, brightness and speed.
The Captain EX RGB range cooling features are identical to the Captain EX, but without the absolutely vital edition of RGB lighting and as a result, you can customise the lighting to your desired tastes. The Captain EX coolers feature silent double-blade fans with anti-shock pads. The fans feature three ‘-proof’ functions: Dustproof, Waterproof, and Oil-Leakage Proof. The coolers have a noise profile that ranges from a minimum of 17.6dBA to a 31.3dBA maximum.
DeepCool calls the Captain EX series a natural evolution in cooling; a refinement of the company’s previous advances. The coolers feature “upgraded anti-explosion rubber,” a “high-density water micro-channel,” and “unique silent TF 120 [or 240] double-blade” fans. The coolers’ free installation solution will “dramatically improve your heat dissipation experience; especially in terms of stability, silence, efficiency and convenience.”
Consumers will be able to purchase the DeepCool Captain EX RGB 120EX and 240EX from June this year, priced $99.99 and $129.99, respectively.
It seems like every brand is trying to get a piece of the RGB pie at the moment. Corsair definitely have the upper hand but there is certainly room for more products into the market.
