We had to be patient since we saw the gorgeous Dell U3415W unveiled about 3 months ago considering there weren’t that many details given at that time. The monitor has now finally been listed on Dell’s page, at least fully on the Hong Kong version with the rest looking to be in the update progress.
“Enter a new dimension of multitasking with a curved monitor that delivers an immersive, panoramic screen that surrounds your senses with amazingly detailed edge-to-edge WQHD (3440×1440) imagery and crystal-clear sound.”
The monitor allows for both Picture-by-picture as well as Picture-in-picture and has a built-in USB 3.0 hub and KVM switch for 2 computers. This way you can attach the monitor to two different systems and control both with the same keyboard and mouse combo.
The display can perform a resolution of 3440 x 1440 with 60Hz support. The IPS panel inside has a native grey to grey response time of 8ms with a boost mode to 5ms. It has a 1000:1 contrast ratio, 300 cd/m2 brightness, 178/178 viewing angles and 1.07b colour depth. The screen has a standard gamut of 99% sRGB coverage.
You could also connect your smartphone or tablet to these monitors using the mini-DisplayPort. The stand offers tilt, height and swivel adjustments, but due to the shape of the screen there isn’t any rotation.
The full connectivities are 1x HDMI 2.0, 1x MHL, 1x mini-DisplayPort, 1x DisplayPort 1.2, 1x DisplayPort out and 4x USB 3.0 ports with 2x USB 3.0 upstream ports. It also has integrated speakers with 9W output. The expected MSRP is less than $1200 and release date is expected within the next couple of month, maybe already in December.
