Dell is full of good display news today, this time regarding the world’s first 5K monitor that is about to hit the market. Sources now say that the Dell UP2715K will retail for less than $2000 despite the current official $2500 listing and there is more good news on as it could arrive as early as December.
We’ve seen Apple launch their iMac with a 5K screen, but so far anyone else hasn’t been able to get this resolution. Dell’s 27-inch monitor has a IPS display with GB-r-LED backlighting that offers a 5120 x 2880 resolution with a 8ms grey to grey response time, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 350 cd/m2 brightness and 178/178 viewing angles. The screen has a wide colour gamut with 99% Adobe RGB and 100% of sRGB coverage.
The optical bonding and anti-reflective coating used eliminates reflection from the LCD panel itself and the protective glass layer in front of it. This in return allows more light to be transmitted and dramatically improves clarity, vividness and contrast. Dell also gave it an anti-smudge coating to help you keep it clean.
There are a lot of options on how you want to use the monitor as it has VESA mounts as well as a stand that supports tilt, swivel, height and rotate adjustments. Sound is provided by integrated Harman Kardon 16W speakers and it has 6 USB 3.0 ports, two DisplayPort, one mini-DisplayPort as well as a card reader.
