Denuvo is dead, surely there is no way the developers can be taken seriously after consistent failures over the last few weeks. Firstly we heard that Resident Evil 7 had its DRM cracked in mere days, then Conan Exiles was cracked, albeit because some nitwit shipped a copy of the code without the DRM, but it’s still rendered it pretty useless. Now the company is facing a bigger crisis, as they forgot to secure their server and years of messages from irate customers and developers have leaked online… whoops.
The 11MB file was leaked onto 4Chan reports ArsTechnica, and contains messages from their online contact form from as far back as 2014. There’s also evidence that many other aspects of their database are unprotected too.
Messages from 343, TaleWorlds, Harmonix, Capcom and more have been discovered. Not only the body of the messages, but also the reply addresses of the senders, details of personal meetings, plans to use the software for what were at the time upcoming or unannounced games, and more.
However, the most amusing aspect is customer complaints. Endless messages of customers moaning their game isn’t working, or that their pirated copy of the game isn’t playable because of the DRM, including death threats against the company for their DRM, yikes!
Denuvo has yet to release a statement confirming the validity of the file, although it would be a pretty boring thing to forge, so it’s hard to imagine it’s fake. We’ll update as we hear more.
I wouldn’t like to be working for Denuvo this week, that’s for sure, and I doubt we’ve seen the last of the leaks and cracks from the company this week.
