Desert Bus For Hope 2018 Live Stream Passes Halfway Point

Desert Bus For Hope 2018 Passes Halfway Point

In terms of gaming charity events, perhaps the biggest is AGDQ or SGDQ. While I do enjoy those events, they are not, however, my favourites. I have a very soft spot in my heat for Desert Bus For Hope. The annual event features over a week of the team constantly playing the cancelled Pen and Teller Sega CD mini-game, Desert Bus.

Created as an antithesis of the simulation craze, the game features you taking a real-time bus trip from Tuscon to Las Vegas. The trip itself is mind-numbingly boring with the only highlight being the occasional bug splattering on your screen and road sign.

That Doesn’t Sound So Hard!

Oh, did we mention that during the entire trip (which as above is simulated in real-time) your bus constantly veers to the right. As such, you must always correct the steering of face another real-time event where you are towed back to the beginning. Yes in terms of brain-melting games, this one is up there.

Charity

The event is celebrating its 12th anniversary and over that time has raised over $4.4m for the Childplay charity. If you want to check out the event (live right now), we have included the Twitch steam above.

Better still, if you want to donate, you can do so via the website here!

What do you think? Are you a fan of gaming charity events? Have you ever watched Desert Bus for hope? In addition, do you think you could play the game for this length of time? – Let us know in the comments!
