Rockstar Games has today revealed that they have hired the devs behind the popular mod FiveM and RedM.
In a surprising turn of events, Rockstar Games has announced that Cfx.re, the team behind FiveM and RedM, the biggest modded multiplayer communities are now an official part of Rockstar Games. With this Rockstar has expanded their policy on mods to include those made by the roleplay community. What makes this quite funny and surreal is Rockstar and Take Two’s history of hating mods and goes back to the OpenIV drama from a few years back that caused a solid dent in the games Steam ratings. Rockstar has even previously back in 2015 (Via dsogaming) stated that the FiveM project was a breach of their terms of service and suspended those who were involved. It will be interesting to see what this means for the game whether that involves the official integration of FiveM into GTA V or something more with GTA VI. No matter what they do, Rockstar will probably find a method of monetizing it.
