Since its unveil last year, there have been a lot of talks about Activision’s next bet, as stated by CEO Bobby Kotick, on the upcoming ‘billion dollar’ franchise, Destiny.
The title is a big step in terms of combining the amazing science-fiction FPS gameplay in a MMORPG shell, making a sweet gameplay and experience, at least from what the trailer revealed. And most importantly, releasing it on next-gen consoles, as well as the old ones, will attract a big mass of players to its alluring and mysterious ways.
Even Activision is praising Bungie’s title every change it gets, having Kotick looking at a big future for Destiny, the one that might go as big as a ‘billion dollar’ franchise.
“We expect Bungie’s Destiny, an innovative shared-world, first-person action game to be Activision Publishing’s next billion dollar franchise.” stated Kotick.
He also mentioned big plans for Activision this year, having new entrants in the Skylanders title and Call of Duty series. They have also mentioned taking an interest in the free-to-play sphere, with titles such as Hearthstone and Call of Duty Online.
Activision really has some big plans set out for them this year, though their main focus still remains Destiny, which is set to release on September the 9th for Xbox 360, PS3, Xbox One, and PS4.
