Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Won’t Have DX12 Support at Launch

We’re just a few days away from the official release date for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, but just in case some of you were looking forward to playing this game in DirectX 12, it looks like this won’t be possible at launch. EIDOS Montreal, Square Enix and Nixxes have revealed that the game won’t support the new API at launch, even though they initially claimed otherwise. However, the game is likely to receive DX12 support at a later date via a patch, as that’s also what happened with Rise of the Tomb Raider. This new patch is expected to come out at the beginning of September, in the week of September 5th, to be precise.

“Contrary to our previous announcement, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, which is shipping on August 23rd, will unfortunately not support DirectX 12 at launch. We have some extra work and optimizations to do for DX12, and we need more time to ensure we deliver a compelling experience. Our teams are working hard to complete the final push required here though, and we expect to release DX12 support on the week of September 5th!”

Even though Deus Ex: Mankind Divided won’t offer DirectX 12 support at launch, there’s still a good chance that it will run nicely on a variety of configurations, especially since its minimum requirements only ask for an i3 and a GeForce GTX 660 or an AMD Radeon HD 7870. The new installment in the Deus Ex series is expected to come out on August 23.
