Dev Receives Death Threats Over Star Wars Battlefront II

Earlier today, we reported that Star Wars Battlefront II players are disgruntled over the time investment required to unlock the game’s Hero characters. In fact, to unlock the likes of Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader requires around 40 hours of gameplay to earn enough credit, according to some sources. However, it’s possible to bypass this endeavour by paying for credit with real money. Many voiced their displeasure on the Battlefront subreddit, with one player complaining at paying $80 just to unlock Vader. Of course, such extortionate prices are exploitative and should be rightly challenged. However, it seems some players are taking their complaints too far.
Death Threats over Star Wars Battlefront II
On Twitter today, an EA developer known only as Sean revealed that he’s received seven death threats and over a thousand personal threats over Battlefront II’s Hero unlock system. He tweeted:
“So I’m up to 7 death threats, and over 1600 individual personal attacks now (and yes, for legal reasons I’m keeping track). And why, you might ask? Because of an unpopular feature in a game.”

He added, in response to a shocked reply:
“Right? Over a freakin video game. I been getting used to it, as this has happened over the last 48 hrs, but then when telling my wife about it just hit me so hard when! This is a video game FFS!”

Ironically, Sean didn’t even work on Battlefront II. However, the death-threatening scumbags don’t seem to care, branding it fair for merely working at EA. He tweeted:
“So, you say in one sentence the threats are wrong, but then justify them in the next because I “lie down with dogs”? So essentially if I work with EA, well then I have it coming…? Nice [Thumbs up]”
