Developer Reveals Doom-Themed CAPTCHA Test

The chances are that you’ve probably had to fill out at least one CAPTCHA test within the last week. Perhaps when logging into a website or before submitting a customer service email? The premise of them is rather simple. It’s a test to make sure you actually are a human being rather than a bot potentially looking to spam. Well, while the tests can often be infuriating or annoying, one developer has found a way to make them way more interesting. Namely, by injecting a bit of Doom into the mix!
Doom CAPTCHA Test
The premise is actually quite simple. Taking the overall presentation of the original Doom game, along with some of its amazingly awesome music, in a little under 5 seconds, you have to successfully shoot 4 enemies that randomly appear. Of course, if the time runs out before you have, then it presumes you’re not a human, and you fail the test. Given that it can take anything up to a minute to complete some of the more pain in the backside standard CAPTCHA tests, though, all going well, this is a trend that’ll catch on!
We’ve copied in the link below and you should be able to try it for yourself.
What Do We Think?
Created by Miquel Camps Orteza, this is certainly a pretty cool way to spend 5 seconds of your day, and as above, all going well this little mini-game will eventually help replace the god awful CAPTCHA tests we currently have to take. It even includes a pretty amazing Easter Egg taken from the original game where you can bypass it entirely by entering ‘IDDQD’.
So, if you want to learn more, or maybe show its creator a little love, you can check out the official Doom CAPTCHA website via the link here!
