It’s hard to believe, but Diablo 3 is now nearly 6 years old. Despite that, as is common with all Blizzard games, the popularity has remained pretty good.
In what is another coup for Nintendo, however, Blizzard in a Twitter post has practically confirmed that Diablo 3 is on the way to the highly-successful console.
In the Twitter post, a diablo nightlight is found with a person switching is on and off. Diablo nightlight Switch = Diablo Switch. In fairness, it isn’t exactly rocket science to figure out, but still, kudos to Blizzard for at least thinking of a unique way to tease this game to the community.
Despite the age of the game, I actually still think this is exciting news for the franchise.
I must confess, I wasn’t a massive fan of Diablo 3, despite being a huge fan of the series as a whole. I understand what they were trying to do, but to me, it failed to live up to the gameplay of Diablo 2. To put things into perspective, I completed Diablo 2 and kept coming back for more online fun. I completed Diablo 3 and never went back.
With the way the game plays and particularly the online mode, the Nintendo Switch and its portable system might, ironically, be the best platform this game could possibly be released on.
At present, most fans of Blizzard are just awaiting confirmation of 2 things – Diablo 2 and Warcraft 3 remastered. If Diablo 3 does well on the Nintendo Switch though, this could add fresh impetus to the urgency of the franchise and might see us be able to replay one of the greatest RPG games ever made.
