Blizzard is urging players of Diablo 3 to be patient as it moves to fix the games launch servers.
After 12 years in the making the famous dungeon crawler finally saw a release last night, no doubt to the celebration of millions of players, but the rush of new players attempting to activate their copies online has caused the servers to slow down, leaving many with error messages that have prevented them from logging in to play. The issue became so server that the error message started trending on twitter, which is the equivalent of front page news of the internet.
This morning Blizzard told its fans who are still having trouble logging on to the game to “wait and try again”, new servers have been launched and Battle.net has been taken offline.
“Please note that due to a high volume of traffic, login and character creation may be slower than normal,” it said in a statement.
“If you’re unable to login to the game or create characters, please wait and try again. We’ve temporarily taken our Battle.net websites offline and launched more servers to accomodate for the traffic. We hope to resolve these issues as soon as possible and appreciate your patience.”
Given that all copies of the game have to be activated online before they can even be played has just added fuel to the fire over the controversial issue of online game activations, lets just hope this issue is resolved some time soon.
