Whenever a company is about to launch a new product, they always love to tease about it. The same is true for Nvidia, having teased us with a puzzle for their upcoming Pascal GPUs. Now, it looks like Nvidia wants to tease us about the coolers for the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070. In an update to their GeForce webpage, Nvidia has added a new polygonal background image, reminiscent of the leaked shrouds we have seen.
The last major reference cooler redesign Nvidia did was when the Titan launched several years ago. That design was praised at the time for its clean industrial look and relatively good performance. With the launch of Pascal and move to 16nm, it seems like it was the perfect time to redesign everything. The new design takes a more “gamer” look with sharp edges and lots of polygons everywhere.
In addition to the background image, Videocardz has also dug up another image showing the area around the IO ports. On the blank space in the center-top, you can see where the GTX 1080 and 1070 logos will likely be etched. If Nvidia remains consistent with past launches, we will see the new cooler on the GTX 1070 and above only. We will probably see lower end reference coolers redesigned as well but that design will probably be different.
