Depending on what you expect from a microSD card, you might want to go with an SLC or an MLC NAND flash offering, but if you’re looking for something in between, then you might want to check out the new industrial-grade SuperMLC microSD cards from Transcend. The company has recently unveiled these offerings based on its SuperMLC technology, which offers performance similar with that of SLC NAND flash at a lower price point. Another thing worth pointing out is that these microSD cards have wide a temperature tolerance between -40°C and 85°C, which goes a long way towards ensuring their reliability in the long run.
Therefore, they are ideal for industrial applications such as surveillance systems, POS terminals, and even medical devices. Transcend’s SuperMLC technology relies on both Single-Level Cell (SLC) and Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND flash, and so the new UHS-I Class 1 SuperMLC microSD cards can reach transfer speeds of up to 95MB/s, albeit at the expense of total capacity. Other highlights include Advanced Error Correcting Code (ECC) and a S.M.A.R.T. function, both of which were implemented for a plus of dependability and protection. The memory cards are available in 4GB, 8GB, 16GB and 32GB versions, and they benefit from a Two-year Limited Warranty from Transcend.
