Acoustic, Power & Thermal Performance
Acoustic Performance
During idle scenarios, the system is inaudible and you’d be hard pressed to detect any fan RPM variations or pump noise. Once stressed, the noise output is almost the same and ridiculously quiet. Honestly, the system is so quiet under load that I had to check on a regular basis that it hadn’t failed the stress test and automatically turned off. If you want a silent desktop experience, the DinoPC GT5 is a superb option and defeated all the previously reviewed systems.
Power Consumption
Interestingly, the system consumed less power while running the AIDA64 benchmark than a significantly weaker alternative in the form of the PC Specialist Spectrum Pro. I’m not entirely sure what this is the case because the overclocked CPU and more powerful GPU should have resulted in a different ranking order. Saying that, it’s not miles away from the area I anticipated and the i5-7600K has some minor power efficiency improves compared to the i5-6600K.
Thermal Performance
The system’s silent running doesn’t come at the expense of temperatures and the CPU remained under 70C throughout the stress test. This is a remarkable result when you take into account the 4.7GHz overclock and extremely quiet operation. Furthermore, the thermal value shows there’s enough headroom for the CPU to be stable in hotter climates. On another note, the GTX 1060 is really efficient and doesn’t heat up in an abrupt manner. Granted, the blower-style cooler makes the graphics card warmer than custom models but it’s not really a big deal given the sub-80C result.
