DirextX 12 is the next big graphics API for gaming, especially in the world of PC gaming. More and more games are starting to filter through with support for the new API, but the rest of this year is when DX12, a Windows 10 exclusive, will really be taking off in a big way. This will be even more so when AMD and Nvidia launch their new graphics cards later in the year, which will no doubt be tuned to take full advantage of anything new that DX12 has to offer.
With the promise of gaining up to 20% more performance from your existing graphics card, as well as around 50% improvement in overall CPU usage, reduced latency, smoother framerates, better all round performance full stop, how can you not be excited for more DirectX 12 ready games!
To show off what DirectX 12 is going to be doing, and in some cases, what it is already doing, Microsoft has put together a showcase trailer that certainly gives a good impression. Of course, it’s the real world performance and action on your own gaming system that matters most, but it’s still enough to keep the hype going for now.
“DirectX 12 is a ground-breaking Microsoft technology that gives game developers the ability to harness the full capabilities of a PC’s GPU(s) and raise the bar on graphic fidelity and immersive gameplay.” – Microsoft
