When Disney purchased Lucasarts it seemed clear that the House of Mouse was rather keen in extending the Star Wars Universe quite significantly. Since the purchase, we have already seen a number of brand new feature films released with even more to come. For a time though, it seemed likely that one of the series most noted characters was going to get a stand-alone film.
I’ve never truly understood it, but Boba Fett is loved by many. You may recall in the series that the last we saw of him was croaking it aboard Jabba The Hutts boat (ship? Ferry?… whatever!). It has, however, been strongly rumoured that Disney was planning to give him a feature specifically dedicated just to his adventures. Possibly what he did after his father’s death.
Well, following a Twitter post, Disney has confirmed that the film is “100% dead”
We do know that Disney is keen on producing some exclusive content for their streaming service. It seems that Boba Fett may have simply been a casualty in getting this alternative content out of the door. In fairness, the film was never confirmed and the decision was also likely based on the underwhelming performance of the recent Han Solo movie. It should also be noted that Disney never confirmed it was ever happening in the first place. Despite a lot of evidence suggesting it was, at the least, in consideration.
If you were looking forward to this though, I’m sorry but for the moment at least, it’s not happening.
