Back in June 2011, Disney filed a patent application about a handheld gaming console with 3D Augmented reality.
The patent has a description of “toy box”. Disney only mentions that Toybox is “a game play that involves various Disney and Pixar character interacting with each other”. It’s also described that it will be used for “extensive mobile and online applications”
The device would let the user take a picture and animate it with Disney and Pixar characters. Looking at the relationship Pixar has with Apple, Inc., it shouldn’t be surprising if they’re too involved in this project.
This device will be interesting to see once it comes out and should pull some attention for sure.
