Dlodlo V1 – The VR Headset That Looks More Like Sunglasses
Gareth Andrews / 8 years ago
When it comes to virtual reality, the only thing stopping everyone from enjoying the latest revolution in computing experiences is the rather large headsets that rest atop your head as you explore worlds unknown. The problem with these headsets is often their size, with rather large blocks of plastic concealing their technology often weighing down your head. A Chinese start-up is looking to combat this problem by creating a new VR headset that looks more like sunglasses than anything you’ll see currently on the market.
Dlodlo is going to set you back $559 and releases this October in the V1 headset. The Vive currently weighs in at over 500G while the V1 is only 88g for comparison. With a 1200×1200 pixel screen for each eye, the resolution surpasses the likes of both the Vive and the Rift.
If you wanted to enjoy it on the go the V1 requires a PC or external processing system due to the lack of a processor within the V1. The benefit of this is that the device can fit nicely in your bag and go with you. If you wanted to use the V1 on the go you can grab the D1 (an iPhone-like device, shown below) that will run the Dlodlo OS (based on Android 5.0 Lollipop) with a dedicated app store for all those VR movies and games.
