NVIDIA’s DLSS 3 technology has been found to have issues when used with AMD Ryzen 7000 series processors in CyberPunk 2077 and The Witcher 3.
This issue was documented and shared by John Papadopoulos of DSOGaming.com who tested both CyberPunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 with DLSS 3 on a system with an AMD Ryzen 7950X3D paired with an NVIDIA RTX 4090 and discovered that both games encountered severe stuttering. To prove this was a Ryzen 7000 series issue John also tested with an Intel i9-9900K and this stuttering was absent. These stutters weren’t small and would last about 2-3 seconds which is very severe in terms of stuttering.
This issue is luckily only affecting Cyberpunk 2077 and The Witcher 3 both by CD Projekt Red using the RED engine, so it seems to be an isolated issue. John Papadopoulos tested several other DLSS 3 games including Forza Horizon 5, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Hogwarts Legacy where this issue wasn’t found. Hopefully, this issue is resolved quickly by either NVIDIA or the CD Projekt Red team.
