Mini Dock Performance

The Club3d mini dock has two aspects that we can benchmark and compare to other types of connections and baselines: USB and LAN.

USB 3.0 Performance

I will be testing my trusted Angelbird SSD2go Pocket 512GB USB 3.0 SSD on the mini dock followed by a direct connection to the system. This will give us an idea whether the mini dock has any impact on the performance or not. I will be using four benchmark applications for this to give a wider view and more results: Anvil’s Storage Benchmark, AS SDD, ATTO Disk Benchmark, and CrystalDiskMark.

RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet Performance

For the network tests, I’ll be using Passmark Performance Test’s Advanced Network Test which allows me to set a lot of variables and test both TCP and UDP connections. As a baseline comparison, I will be using my onboard KillerNIC E2400 Gigabit Ethernet. In both cases, the target system is running with 10Gbps setup which eliminates any bottleneck on that end.
