Do You Want Zombies? Scientists Want to Reanimate a Brain!

Remember all those horror films you’ve watched and those games you played where someone made a bad decision and unleashed the zombie apocalypse on the world, I think we may have found the start of ours. When it comes to life, people are often pronounced to have passed when they are brain-dead. Some scientists have decided that they don’t want that to be the end and are looking to reanimate a brain!

With approval from both American and Indian review boards to conduct a trial, the overall goal of the trial is to try to regenerate the damaged brain cells in any one of their 20 patients. The technologies they’ll be using vary, ranging from lasers and nerve stimulation to using stem cells and peptides to try to reverse brain death.

While the study is designed as a “proof of concept” to see if the idea is viable, the overall hope is that Bioquark and Revita Life could find ways to adjust the brain cells “history”, helping start things anew like starfish or lizards do when they regrow part of their body.

While walking a fine line, and being a far cry from reanimating a zombie apocalypse, the ability to repair damaged brains would be the first step to helping those who are holding on with the help of life support.
