Don’t Expect a New Witcher Game Any Time Soon

The Witcher 3 is undoubtedly the greatest game I’ve had to pleasure of playing for well over a decade. More specifically, the game’s stunning environments, captivating character development and intense action combine to create an enthralling experience unlike anything else on the market. It’s a tour-de-force RPG and I wish there was more spare time in the day to give this masterpiece the attention it deserves. For some time, the developer, CD Projekt has been working on a huge expansion entitled, Blood and Wine. This looks very promising and is set on a huge scale.
So what does the future hold for the series once this expansion has been released? In a recent interview with Eurogamer, Marcin Iwinski, CD Projekt co-founder said:
“We honestly don’t know. We don’t have anything planned as of now to be honest on the next Witcher.”
“As we said before, never say never right now it’s really Blood and Wine. This is the end. Blood and Wine is closing and there won’t be any Witcher any time soon – if there ever will be one. And I would really like to see how people feel about it, if they will enjoy it.”
This means it’s unlikely we’ll see a new Witcher game for some time and the company might simply decide to leave it on a high note. Honestly, I approve of this idea and it’s better to treat the series with respect instead of releasing iterative sequels which cannot live up to the astounding quality seen throughout The Witcher 3. Whatever the case, I’m extremely excited to see what future projects CD Projekt are working on given their impeccable heritage and pro-consumer strategy.
