The Nintendo switch finally gets its first current-generation port, and it happens to be the unlikeliest title for the Nintendo brand: id/Bethesda Software’s DOOM. The announcement comes directly from Nintendo Direct who made the announcement on Wednesday. Even more good news is that the port includes all updates and DLC as well, with the exception of one feature. It is completely understandable, but the SnapMap level editor did not make the cut.
Due to size constraints as well, only the single-player campaign is on the game card. Users will still be able to play multiplayer. However, they have to download the free update after getting the game. Obviously, those who buy the digital-only copies get to download the entire game in one package.
DOOM is not the only Bethesda coming to the Switch. Their latest title Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is going to get a port as well. The title is due for an October 27 release on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Windows PC, although it won’t be available for the portable console until 2018. DOOM for the Switch however, will be available in time for the holiday season. So everyone can merrily frag to their hearts content.
