DOOM Fan Attempts to Create a 100k Demon Map

When SnapMap was revealed for the first time as part of iD Software’s new DOOM game, the PC modding community was right to be excited, as creating our own maps for this gorgeous-looking title sounds like a recipe for a lot of fun. However, even though creating these maps is definitely easy and fun to do, it would appear that SnapMap itself has its fair share of limitations, especially when it comes to placing a lot of demons in the same room. YouTube’s MarphitimusBlackimus wanted to see exactly how far he could push the level editor by attempting to create a map with no less than 100K Revenants.
Even though this was kind of a stretch, the sad news is that he didn’t even manage to cut it close, as the editor allowed him to implement just 64 Revenants in total while being left with 21 empty rooms. Moreover, the game could only spawn a total of 12 Revenants at a time, which means that the player wasn’t even able to face-off against those 64 all at once. This is obviously disappointing, especially since companies such as Bethesda managed to release proper modding tools for games such as Fallout 4. That being said, it’s still possible to create some original and fun maps in DOOM, just as long as they’re not too big or too challenging.
