Double-GPU RX Vega Card Incoming?
Ashley Allen / 7 years ago
AMD’s new RX Vega graphics cards are still fresh, but already there’s a rumour of an even more powerful version of the tech on the way. According to WCCFTech, Asus is planning to launch a new card featuring two Vega GPUs on a single board. Specifically, the card will feature a pair of Vega 10 XTs. In addition, the new card will be liquid-cooled. However, this double-Vega card will only be available in limited quantites. The report is unverified, and thus is to be taken with a whole load of salt.
Double-GPU RX Vega Cards
WCCFTech’s Khalid Moammer reports:
“A couple of weeks ago we heard that AMD has given its AIB partners the greenlight to take whatever freedoms they wish to design custom graphics cards based on the company’s brand new Vega 10 GPUs, including Vega 10 XT (64 compute chip) and Vega 10 XL (56 compute unit chip).
If what we’re hearing is true, Asus will take those design liberties offered by AMD to the absolute max to make an absolute monster of a card featuring two full Vega 10 XT GPUs. With over 50 teraflops of FP16 compute, 25 teraflops of FP32 compute and nearing on 600W this card is set to be the world’s most powerful and most power hungry. At this juncture liquid cooling is no longer a luxury but an absolute necessity.”
Limited Quantities
As if such a card wouldn’t already be expensive, there will also be very few available. Moammer adds:
“Asus will allegedly only make a limited number of these cards and will charge a pretty penny for each one.”
Moammer goes on to explain that the card will be more a demonstration than a commercial product. How much would you pay for a double-GPU, water-cooled RX Vega graphics card?
