Everyone knew that Bandai-Namco‘s Dragon Ball FighterZ was going to be a massively successful game. However, nobody expected it to be this successful fast. Shortly after its release, the fighting game based on the popular Anime has surpassed 2 million in sales across all platforms. The game just came out on January 26, so in just one week it has surpassed expectations.
Bandai-Namco together with developer Arc System Works is of course especially proud with the feat. However, that is not the only good news. It seems that the game is also now the most played fighting game in the world. Eclipsing even CAPCOM’s Street Fighter V and Bandai-Namco’s own Tekken 7.
Just going by peak concurrent players, the game has more players than both Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 by a long shot. Even with Mortal Kombat X in the mix, Dragon Ball FighterZ still puts up a considerable fight. Here is the top 5 peak concurrent player count for fighting games on the PC alone according to Steam Charts as of February 2.
This is just the PC chart. A lot more are playing on console. Also keep in mind that Street Fighter V just launched their new Arcade Mode and new season so even that is not strong enough to beat Dragon Ball.
