Capcom has hit the jackpot with Dragon’s Dogma 2, reaching an astonishing 2.5 million sales across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S within 10 days of its release. Launched on March 22, the action-packed RPG’s rapid sales growth by April 2 has propelled the entire Dragon’s Dogma series past the 10 million sales mark, a significant milestone for Capcom.
This remarkable achievement sets Dragon’s Dogma 2 apart, especially when compared to its predecessor, which took a month to sell 1.05 million units after its release in May 2012. Capcom’s strategic promotional efforts aimed at both series veterans and newcomers, including a free app for creating player avatars and celebrity collaborations, played a key role in this success.
Despite debates over microtransactions and performance issues on PC, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has become the biggest launch for a single-player game on Steam under Capcom’s banner, boasting over 220k peak concurrent players. Following this launch success, Capcom is considering further expansions, signalling potential DLC on the horizon.
How do you feel about Dragon’s Dogma 2’s impressive sales figures? Can they keep up this pace in the future? We’d love to hear your opinions, so please drop a comment below.
