Dragon’s Dogma 2 Surpasses 3.3 Million Sales After Six Months

Dragon’s Dogma 2, Capcom’s long-awaited open-world action RPG, debuted on March 22 on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC to critical acclaim and strong sales. Unfortunately, player interest appears to have waned slightly in the aftermath of its launch, or so the updated sales figures suggest: strong but not impressive.
Dragon’s Dogma 2 Surpasses 3.3 Million Sales After Six Months
According to Capcom, Dragon’s Dogma 2 has sold 3.3 million copies after six months on the market, that is, until last September 30th. Of these, 3 million were placed in the first two months, and only 300,000 units were sold in the following four months.
The decline seems to be due to some technical problems and critical issues related to the microtransaction system, in addition to the ruthless competition, which saw the publication of numerous high-quality titles between summer and autumn.
Just last February, a month after the game’s release, Capcom said it was confident in the commercial success of Dragon’s Dogma 2, and even though they don’t reach the levels of the recent Resident Evil 4 Remake, the numbers seem good overall. The Japanese studio, among other things, seems interested in making at least one paid expansion, so who knows, maybe there won’t be a surge in sales in the long term.
