With HDD price going sky high, at least on side of the market offers good prices, and it’s once more the DRAM sales.
Memory prices are in fact hitting a new low in Europe and North America with one company in particular offering some good prices. TeamGroup is indeed selling an 8GB DDR3-1333 memory kit for just €23.53 in Germany and $27.99 in the States. Obviously, with prices like these you can’t expect enthusiast grade performance, but at a €3 or 3.5$ per gigabyte, it certainly offers great value.
Now the exact price isn’t applied for every company, but the range is more or less the same. For an 8GB kit with similar specifications you can get it for €26.53 from Mushkin, or €27.55 from G.Skill. In the US, you’ll find the similar product from Crucial and Pareema for the price of $34.99.
On the other hand, as of today, more and more people are switching to the portability solution of a notebook, which makes SO-DIMMs a sought product as well. In Europe, you’ll find a 4GB DDR3-1600 module from Kingston, Corsair or Transcend to be priced at €14+, making it about €4.5 per gigabyte. The US market benefits from the same effect, with a bunch of modules from Patriot, Kingston and Crucial price at $19.99. But in this department, Pareema gets the crow with €17.99 for the 4GB DDR3-1600 memory module.
Here’s something to get you thinking; a year ago Kingston’s ValueRAM 4GB SO-DIMM modules would have set you back €54, but one year before that, you would have paid €243, as of today, you only pay around €14.
