A joint initiative between AR500 Armor, Heckler & Koch, and artist Ryan B. Flowers has birthed a combat-ready, ballistic armour recreation of the Mandalorian suit from Star Wars. For the uninitiated, the Mandalorian armour is the suit of choice for Star Wars’ most infamous bounty hunter, Boba Fett. The prototype armour, developed under the banner of the GalacTac Project, was revealed on the AR500 Facebook page last week.
“GalacTac Project. A special project that we have been working on with other industry leaders,” AR500 Armor wrote on its Facebook. “We hope to see everyone at SHOT 2016 Booth #6605!”
The project was undertaken by Heckler & Koch, TEA Headsets, Sog Knives & Tools, Armasight, SureFire, Wilcox Industries Corp, and Team Wendy, in partnership with AR500 Armor, while the prototype pictured was built and designed by Flowers, who is a popular figure in the airsoft community with a reputation for producing quality recreations of the Mandalorian armour.
The armour is still in the prototype stage, with no word as to whether it will be made available for sale.
Boba Fett is still rumoured to be the subject of one of the three planned Star Wars Anthology films, the first of which, Rogue One, opens in cinemas this December, with the other movie covering the early years of Han Solo.
