Driveclub VR is Vomit-Inducing

A number of gaming sites have had some trouble reviewing Driveclub VR, Evolution Studios’ new virtual reality racing game for PlayStation VR. It seems the game, released today (13th October), has caused players some serious motion sickness issues, to the point of nausea.

“Just to be clear: we’ve been playing and testing VR games for years now and we’ve only ever once felt physically sick whilst doing do,” writes Digital Spy’s Sam Loveridge. “But it only took 30 minutes for Driveclub VR to make that twice.”

“We felt it in the first race, that strange feeling of a wave rising from our belly and settling in our throat,” she says. “Initially we thought maybe it was just tiredness, but a good night’s sleep later and several races in we felt it again. Far more strongly this time.”

“Around five minutes later, mid-race, we were ripping the PS VR from our face and sprinting to the bathroom to hurl,” Loveridge added. “Not only were our pals positively nauseous after a race each, we’ve heard of other brave journalists circling the toilet rim, even if they didn’t physically vomit.”

Another outlet that experiences nausea playing Driveclub VR, to the point of flat-out refusing to review the game, was GamesRadar.

“You may have noticed, looking over the breadth of PlayStation VR coverage that we have, that we don’t have a review for one of the headset’s launch titles, Driveclub VR,” Sam Prell of GamesRadar says. “Well, there’s a reason for that, and that reason starts with “motion,” ends with “sickness,” and in the middle there’s a “BLLLFRRRPPHH!!!””

“Simply put, we just couldn’t find anyone who could handle playing the game long enough to review it,” Prell added. “We tried several victim–er, volunteers, but no luck.”

If you don’t have your sea legs, it might be best to avoid Driveclub VR.
