Dune: Awakening, the multiplayer survival game inspired by Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel and Legendary Entertainment’s award-winning films, is set to launch on May 20th. Funcom, the game’s developer, has opened pre-orders today. With the game just eight weeks away, here’s everything you need to know to decide which, if any, edition to pre-order.
Game Editions
Funcom has detailed the business model for Dune: Awakening, confirming it will launch as a full release on May 20th, bypassing early access, and will not require a subscription. The game will be supported with ongoing free updates that introduce new content and features, alongside optional paid DLCs, reflecting Funcom’s commitment to long-term support seen in their other live games. Various editions are available, with the standard edition priced at £41.99, and deluxe (£58.50) and ultimate (£74.99) editions offering early access and exclusive in-game items.
The Deluxe and Ultimate editions of Dune: Awakening provide players with a 5-day head start and exclusive in-game content. These higher-tier editions also include a season pass, which will contain four DLCs. Pre-ordering any version of the game grants players bonus cosmetic items. Funcom highlights their long history of supporting live service games, and affirms that Dune: Awakening will follow this model, with continued support post-launch.
PC Requirements
To experience Dune: Awakening on your PC, you’ll need a system that meets the minimum requirements. This includes running Windows 10 64-bit or a more recent version of the operating system. For processing power, an Intel Core i5-7400 or an AMD Ryzen 3 1200 will suffice. You’ll also need at least 16 GB of RAM and a graphics card equivalent to an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 (with 6 GB of VRAM) or an AMD Radeon 5600XT (with 6 GB of VRAM). Finally, ensure you have at least 60 GB of free storage space available on your hard drive or SSD.

This involves using Windows 10 64-bit or newer, and a more powerful processor like an Intel Core i7-10700K or an AMD Ryzen 5 2600X. While 16 GB of RAM is still the recommendation, a more robust graphics card such as an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 (with 8 GB of VRAM) or an AMD Radeon 6700XT (with 12 GB of VRAM) will provide better visual fidelity and performance. Additionally, the recommended storage space increases slightly to 75 GB, so ensure you have enough room for the game and any potential updates.
