Final Thoughts
The Ergonomic DXT Mouse 2 is available from Amazon for a fairly expensive £101.99 for the wireless model, although the wired model is a little cheaper, the benefits of the wireless model are worthy of the extra investment. The price is high, there’s no getting around that, but this isn’t a big brand, mass-produced product. It’s a high-quality product design for professional use and provides medical benefits that simply cannot be ignored.
Overview
The DXT Mouse 2 really is unique, it’s still a mouse at the absolute core, but with all the main controls flipped on their side, it certainly takes a little getting used to. Of course, this mouse isn’t for everyone, not everyone feels the need for it, but there’s obviously some tangible benefits to it. If you suffer from wrist and hand pain from working at your computer all day long, this is a huge way to help reduce and even prevent that pain altogether. It’s also a preventative tool, as you don’t have to have a painful wrist to start using it, but by doing so you could be saving yourself from developing any issues.
When it comes to working in office documents, browsing the web and other general tasks, the DXT Mouse 2 performs spectacularly. It’s sensor is nice and smooth and well suited to precise work in Photoshop, or any editing software for that matter. While it’s not designed for gaming, it’s certainly possible to use it for such tasks. I wouldn’t be rolling it out for CS:GO anytime soon, it’s just not right for the job, but I found it a joy to use for MMO gaming. I’ve been playing Elder Scrolls Online with it all week and have no complaints there, so it’s certainly worth giving it a go, at least once you’ve gotten used to the new ergonomics.
The build quality is fantastic, there’s a good weight to it, the materials used have a premium look and feel, there’s a built-in USB rechargeable battery and overall, you do get a great product in return for your investment. The price isn’t going to appeal to casual users, as it is quite expensive, but for those who are in need of a product such as this, the health benefits outweigh the retail price by a huge margin. Of course, the question of being able to afford or even needing it is down to your own opinion and bank balance.
I do strongly recommend the wireless model, however, as being free from any constraints is just another way of helping you find a comfortable way to use your mouse and prevent wrist pain, plus it’s easier to swap between left and right-hand use with a wireless product.
