The DXVK project has launched version 2.4, introducing support for DirectX 8. This new feature allows PC gamers to enhance performance in older games that used DirectX 8, addressing stuttering and optimization issues.
This update brings several fixes and improvements. The DXVK team has resolved various issues related to D3D9 fixed-function texture coordinate processing and improved compatibility with third-party mods. The update also includes pipeline layout compatibility fixes, benefiting users of AMD’s official drivers.
Version 2.4 offers numerous game-specific tweaks. VSync now works correctly in Dead Space 2, and rendering issues in Fallout: New Vegas with certain mods are fixed. Players will also see better performance in Tomb Raider Legend, Red Faction Guerrilla Remastered, and Watch Dogs. Additionally, DXVK 2.4 addresses crashes in Rise of Nations, Battlefield 2, and Battlefield 2142 when alt-tabbing.
Fallout 4 no longer locks at 45fps on the Steam Deck OLED, and The Sims 2 runs without low CPU-bound performance issues. Prototype works properly on both AMD and Intel GPUs, while Dragonshard runs faster. Gothic 3 and Guild Wars 2 no longer have visual artifacts.
Players can download DXVK 2.4 here. This update ensures older games run smoother and with fewer issues, making it a must-have for classic game enthusiasts.
