Dying Light 2 Devs Confirm Free Next-Gen Upgrades for PlayStation & Xbox

While both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S have been technically available for well over a year now, actually getting hold of one of them (with the exception of the Xbox Series S) still remains a very difficult task. This does, of course, and as often is the case when new systems are released, create a bit of a problem for gaming consumers. You want to play the latest big releases, but don’t necessarily want to buy copies for last-gen consoles to later pay for an ‘upgrade’ when you’re finally able to snag one of the new systems. – For people looking forward to Dying Light 2, however, there is some excellent news!
Following a report via Eurogamer, the game’s developer (Techland) has confirmed that if you haven’t managed to get your shiny new console, do not worry. Why? Well, because they will be offering PS4 and Xbox One owners a 100% free upgrade to the PS5/Xbox Series X/S versions!
Dying Light 2 – Free Next-Gen Upgrade!
The news is certainly fantastic, and especially so given that many developers often charge a fee of anything between £5 to £15 to ‘upgrade’ your existing copy to the next-gen version. With it offering full save compatibility/transfer too, you can play on your current console as much as you like and when you do finally get hold of your next-gen system, you should be able to access the new version and pick it up right where you left off!
From a more savvy consumer point of view though, with this news in mind, you might want to consider seeing if the PS4/Xbox One version is cheaper than the PS5/Xbox Series X release. I mean, if it is, surely spending less and latterly getting your free upgrade would make a hell of a lot of sense. – Yes, I know, it’s a bit cynical of me given the overall good nature of the news, but hey, I’ll always fall on the side of gamers saving money!
Dying Light 2 will be released for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC on the 4th of February.
