Dynasty Warriors 9 Released With Launch Trailer

Dynasty Warriors 9

I must confess, for many years I have been a big fan of Dynasty Warriors. Don’t get me wrong, the gameplay can be ridiculously shallow at times, but I don’t care. Smashing apart your enemies with the assistance of some of China’s greatest warriors from the Three Kingdom Period is just pure awesomeness to me.

It’s, therefore, some fantastic news that the latest edition in the series, Dynasty Warriors 9, has today been released.

Oh, Crap… it’s Lu Bu…

Despite the fun, this game has given me, there have of course been some not so fun times. One of the more notable examples of this is when Lu Bu turns up on the battlefield. If you have never played Dynasty Warriors, or are unaware of your Chinese history, Lu Bu is basically the equivalent of Chuck Norris. Overpowered beyond extreme is an understatement. Practically every game has advised, when he turns up, you head very quickly in the opposite direction.

It’s exactly things such as this though that have made Dynasty Warriors a big fan favourite in the household.

Initial Thoughts

Having played this for a few hours this morning, I must say, I am impressed. It has been a little while since the last release in this series, but it looks like they haven’t been idle in that time. Everything you want to see is here and it looks glorious.

Crushing your enemies and subjugating rebellious subjects, this is a brilliant game for those who simply want button mashing action.

Release date

Despite releasing slightly earlier in Japan, Dynasty Warriors 9 was officially released in the ‘West’ today. As such you should have no trouble getting your copy and giving this a bash. Trust me, if you haven’t played it before, you have missed out on something amazing. It isn’t, however, too late to join the party.

Dynasty Warriors 9 is available on PC, Xbox One and PS4.

EDIT – I am informed that the PC version at present is best avoided due to some significant optimisation issues.
