AMD has updated its Brazos APU range. The changes are only marginal but they improve the Brazos APU quite a lot, the existing E-350 APU is upgraded to the E-450 with some clock changes. The CPU frequency is raised from 1.6GHz to 1.66GHz giving a slight performance boost there. The main gain comes from the graphics department, the HD 6310 is upgraded to a HD 6320 which sees the clocks rise from 500MHz to 600MHz which will give about a 15-20% increase in graphics performance.
MSI, Toshiba, ASUS, Acer and HP have announced several models based off this new E-450 APU and prices are reasonable. 299 gets you an E-450 based 12″ notebook whilst 499 gets you a feature packed 17″ notebook from Toshiba. Brazos are certainly delivering consumers excellent value for money especially when you compare what an equally priced Atom system gives you in terms of performance. AMD is definitely winning this battle.
