Price
The E-Blue Mazer EMS642 Optical Gaming Mouse will be available at most high-street and online retailers with an MSRP of around £22 for any of the three available colours. This is great value for money for a mouse with this level of performance. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but you’ll struggle to find anything better for equal or less.
Overview
The latest mouse from E-Blue is the best we’ve seen from them yet, offering reliable performance at a wallet-friendly price tag. Affordable doesn’t always have to mean poor performance and while the Mazer may not be set to take out the big names within the gaming mouse marker, if you wanted to see any worthwhile improvement in performance over the M652, you can expect to pay almost double the asking price.
The build quality is pretty good overall, and while the mouse is a little light, that does have some benefits in terms of manoeuvrability, as well as helping reduce fatigue throughout longer gaming sessions; with four large slipmats on the base, it glides easily on cloth and softer mat gaming surfaces. The switches are quick and responsive, the mouse wheel is nice and accurate and while the plastics don’t look the best, they feel robust enough for the price range.
Performance is decent, with smooth sensor readout at the lower end of the DPI range and while there is some jitter at higher settings, it’s kept reasonably under control to not be a nuisance for the majority of users. Obviously, those wanting high-end precision can find it elsewhere, but expect to pay a premium for it.
Pros
- Competitive price
- Good sensor performance (for this price range)
- Stylish design
- Adjustable DPI
- Braided cable
- Comfortable ergonomics
- Glides easily
- Lightweight (130+5g)
Cons
- Some jitter at higher DPI settings
- DPI can only be scrolled through, not toggled up/down
“If the EMS642 is just a taste of what we can expect from E-Blue, then I’m certainly looking forward to seeing more from them in the near future. For very little money, this is a nice gaming and day-to-day work mouse, with unique aesthetics and ergonomics that’ll are hard to beat in terms of value for money.”
