EA Clears the Air on Dead Space 2 Remake Rumors

Rumors have been swirling around the fate of a potential Dead Space 2 remake. However, Electronic Arts (EA) has officially debunked these claims, confirming that there was never any plan to cancel the project because, according to them, such a project was not in development to begin with.

EA’s Response

Jeff Grubb, a known figure in the gaming news scene, stirred the pot by suggesting on his Game Mess Mornings podcast that EA Motive had started but then shelved a Dead Space 2 remake due to disappointing sales of the Dead Space remake. EA was quick to respond, stating unequivocally, “We don’t normally comment on rumors but there is no validity to this story.”

This statement was backed by IGN, which confirmed through its own sources that EA had not considered a Dead Space 2 remake. Despite EA’s firm denial, Grubb maintained his stance, suggesting that plans for Dead Space 2’s remake were indeed real but are no longer moving forward.

The gaming community received the Dead Space remake with open arms, praising its quality and faithful adaptation. Speculations about a sequel seemed natural, especially considering the remake’s success. Yet, EA’s focus appears to have shifted, with key members of the Dead Space remake team moving to other projects, including the Battlefield series and an Iron Man game currently in development by Motive.

Dead Space Fans Left Wondering

Despite the confusion and conflicting reports, one thing is clear: there is no Dead Space 2 remake on the horizon. This news may disappoint fans who were hoping to see the continuation of the remade series. However, the original Dead Space remake’s acclaim and success demonstrate the enduring appeal of the franchise, leaving many hopeful for its future in some form.

For now, EA Motive remains committed to its other high-profile projects, leaving the Dead Space series to rest among the stars, at least for the time being.
