Early testing of Bulldozer patch shows why it was pulled

We already know that the Bulldozer patch has been pulled but we didn’t really know up to this point why this is the case. However, testing from SweClockers has revealed that the patch which was  supposed to increase performance across the board on a variety of x86 applications, actually ended up decreasing performance or leaving it the same. There was almost no change whatsoever in benchmarks like Cinebench, wPrime 2.05, 3D Mark 11 and 7-Zip whilst some applications took a hit for the worst including Battlefield Bad Company 2, Civilization 5 and Metro 2033. The only applications to recieve any major benefits were PC Mark 7 and Crysis 2.

It would now seem obvious why the patch was pulled as it had no obvious performance benefits and was clearly a ‘bad’ hotfix or not developed enough to warrant it going into production just yet. AMD fans will certainly be hoping these figures are just a problem with the hotfix as many are looking to this patch to bring as much as 5-10% performance increases.
