Closer Look: DEEBOT N8+
The robot itself features dToF Laser Navigation which will map out your floors in no time. It will also let the robot know where bigger furniture items or obstructions to the robot’s course are.
While the docking station is designed to take the rubbish from the DEEBOT N8+ automatically, you can also empty it manually. Taking out the small dust container is fairly easy once you’ve got the hang of it.
The DEEBOT N8+ also comes with a 240ml reservoir for those looking to make use of its mopping function as well.
The small reservoir at the back pulls out, and you can fill it up with water and place it back in the DEEBOT N8+.
The DEEBOT N8+ comes with a True mapping feature that will actually map out your house and put it in a little diagram on the app. This will allow you to always see where the DEEBOT N8+ is, but it will also allow you to mark out customs zones so you can tell the N8+ where it is and isn’t allowed to go. Taking it further, if you have a multi-level house, the N8+ can map each level, and you can see these individually on the app.
Flipping the robot over, and it reminded me of a turtle being stuck on its back. Shame it wasn’t kicking its little wheels about! But, flipping it over like this will allow for the easiest way to change and clean the different brushes.
To remove the bigger brush, simply pull the grey tabs towards each other and take the cover off.
Once the cover is off the brush is also easily removable and has a bit of a dual-action thing going on. It has bristles and also rubber bits to make sure it is getting as much off the floor as possible. This will also allow it to be useful on both carpet and harder floors.
There were some smaller brushes included in the box that will clip into either side of the DEEBOT N8+ underside.
As you will see in the images below, there is a red and a green clip towards the front of the DEEBOT N8+
The brushes clip into place and will help to grab extra dirt and debris and pull it into the DEEBOT N8+ so it can suck it up.
This small wheel at the front will be what allows the DEEBOT N8+ to change directions and take turns. But, again, it is fully autonomous, so once it has mapped your house out, it should know where to go all on its own.
Thanks to its wheels, the DEEBOT N8+ can actually climb surfaces up to 20mm in height. This will be great if it is trying to go from one floor surface to another.
As you can see, the wheels can automatically retract up into the DEEBOT N8+, allowing it to climb and be used on multiple different floor types. In these images, we can also see a small gap between the plastics of the outside of the robot. This is because while it is autonomous and will map out your floor, it still had a bumper feature as it may still bump into things occasionally. This bumper, once pushed in, should let the robot know it needs to back itself up a bit and map out a new direction to go.
