ECS A85F2-A Golden Board (A85X) Motherboard Review

To say that we didn’t hit an initial snag would be a lie, so giving the truth, we did find some issues with the first BIOS but in a way, that is where we come in as a review site, testing functionality before it hits the consumers and the latest BIOS solved all problems that we faced, and most of the problems related to running 4 sticks of memory at 1866MHz or above.
Once we had a fully-working BIOS, we went straight to the overclocking section to see how far we could push our A10-5800k and started by cranking our voltage to its safe limit of 1.475 and then proceeded to push our multiplier up to 42x. With the board clocked to 4.2GHz, we found the system was completely stable across a variety of our stress testing applications and we had a feeling that this board could push our A10 APU further.
With that in mind, we went back in to try the 43x multiplier and found that once again we had stability over a prolonged period of time so 44x was our next step up and this proved to be just the same with full stability. Any further than the 44x multiplier sadly did give us some instability issues within Windows and with further voltage increments, we can see this board being able to push things further, but improved cooling would be needed.
