ECS announces AMD FM2 Golden Motherboard
Ryan Martin / 12 years ago
ECS captured the imagination of the enthusiast market earlier on this year when it launched the Golden Intel LGA 1155 motherboard. Although the product was very expensive, it was unique and held very good overclocking capabilities.
ECS has now cooked up another Golden masterpiece except this time for AMD, but strangely they’ve opted for FM2 instead of AM3+.
The A85F2-A GOLDEN will be of a limited edition supply as they are all hand built and numbered. With a black-gold contrast this motherboard design certainly impresses. Gold plating is implemented on key components for better longevity.
ECS have added a new UEFI BIOS design, called EZ BIOS, which also brings full Windows 8 support. AMD CrossFireX is supported at PCI Express Generation 2 speeds.
There is support for up to 64GB of RAM up to 2600MHz in frequency – providing your processor can hold it there.
Expansion and connectivity options in the A85F2-A GOLDEN include 7 SATA 6 Gb/s connectors, 6 USB 3.0 ports, 8 USB 2.0 ports, Gigabit LAN, and a eSATA 6Gb/s connectors for fast external storage. Separate HDMI, DVI, D-Sub and Display Port provide graphics output, and 8-Ch HD Audio support.
ECS have given these motherboards its nonstop reliability branding, similar to Ultra Durable and Military Class. Nonstop features include enhanced gold plating on critical contacts, and all solid capacitors and Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protection for VGA, USB, LAN and HDMI ports.
Pricing and availability are still to be announced.
