ECS might not be the first name which comes to mind when considering a new motherboard, especially in western markets. However, they’re still producing new models for the latest Z270 chipset which shouldn’t be overlooked. The Z270-LIGHTSABER supports up for 64GB DDR4 memory, has three PCI-E x16 slots (x16/x8/x4), four PCI-E x1 slots and a Killer E2500 NIC. Not only that, the motherboard employs the Realtek ALC1150 codec, has six SATA ports, one M.2 and a U.2 port. The audio segment is on a separate PCB to reduce electromagnetic interference and ensure the best possible signal can be maintained. As hinted by its name, the ECS Z270-LIGHTSABER supports vibrant RGB illumination and allows you to customise the motherboard’s aesthetic to your own personal preference. Other key features include dual BIOS, an onboard amplifier, Nichicon capacitors, Flash Digi Power and onboard buttons.
Connectivity-wise, the motherboard has a PS/2 combo port. Clear_CMOS button, seven USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.1 ports, HDMI, DisplayPort and six gold-plated audio jacks. Please note, the yellow USB ports have an enhanced signal which makes it suitable for VR equipment or a dedicated DAC. Overall, a pretty solid motherboard and I’m looking forward to conducting a full review rather soon.
